St Ives

This is currently an ongoing exterior decorating project. We are bringing a beautiful modern house which looks over St. Ives harbour, back to its full potential. It's needing some TLC since its positioning leads to it facing some harsh weather. When we're done it will look good as new.

Step 1: Remove fungal growth

The first step is the most tiring. It takes a long time and lots of arm aching. However, scraping off the plant-life leads to a great result which is very rewarding.

Step 2: Cover clean wall in fungicide

This step is physically easier but there is still much room for error. The fungicide is very fluid and you don't want drip marks down the wall. Therefore applying the liquid is a slow and laborious step but it's needed to stop anything growing back.

Step 3: Paint the first coat

The first coat requires the most paint and time. However, it is important not to rush since any brush strokes or runs from the paint will show through the next coats.

Step 4: Second coat

The second coat goes on quickly and doesn't require much paint. This is because the first layer has soaked into the wall and has stopped the wall from absorbing more paint. On this particular wall we used three coats as the texture of the wall made the paintwork look patchy.
